Are You Making $500 an Hour (part 2)?

All of us know that certain activities have the potential of moving our business forward while other activities are those urgent tasks that we perform daily. Last month, I gave you a list of tasks and had you think about placing a value on each of them.

All businesses have to perform urgent tasks, however, it is essential that we all make sure to schedule in some of those high paying activities. Someone once told me if entrepreneurs would take time to create Top Ten list everyday that this one activity would change your business forever. Remember, when you take time to write your goals/tasks down on paper you are very likely to achieve them. One tip to remember is to break down large tasks into several small tasks, if you write too general a task on the list your list will soon become demotivating. Be sure to work in at least one or two $500 an hour tasks each week.

I have placed a value on each of the tasks below. The dollar amounts are a figure of speech and really just reflect the value of the task.

  • $500 - Discussing a job with a client

  • $100 - Creating a proposal

  • $10 - Picking out a piece of furniture

  • $10 - Selecting fabric for a window treatment

  • $100 - Setting up a filing system in your office

  • $100 - Systematizing your workroom
