Different Pricing for Different Customers!

For years people have have asked me why the Price Level feature in QuickBooks did not work. I would explain that it does work on invoices just not on estimates, which made this feature totally useless to our industry. With the release of QuickBooks 2007, the Price Level feature now works within an estimate. To setup Price Levels click Lists >Price Level Lists > press Ctrl N (New) > enter name of Price Level i.e., Wholesale > select Price Level Type > select if the price level will increase or decrease and percentage and the round up figure.

There is a second option for those of you that don't want to use the Price Level feature. After you have created an estimate simply insert a line and add a Subtotal item code then add another item code to upcharge or discount all lines above the subtotal line. (see screenshot below)

This option also works great when you need to add or discount a one time amount on an estimate i.e., add a commission, add an upcharge for a difficult job/client or discount an estimate for gift certificate. The upcharge or discount can be either a percentage or a set amount. When entering a percentage be sure to use the % key after the amount.
