Everyone realizes that backing up files are important but many times we do not take the time to complete this simple procedure. Then when the unthinkable happens we are devastated. Mozy is the easiest and the most inexpensive online backup I have found. I was set up and backing up within 15 minutes. External backups are great, but offsite backups protect your files if a disaster happens at your home or office.
After you sign up for an account with
Mozy, you will be asked to download the software. After Mozy is installed,
go through the Configure Wizard, Mozy will look for your files on your
computer, look over this list scroll down to My Documents make sure
the checkbox is white and not gray. If it is gray click on it to
change the color of the box to white (a white box with a checkmark in it
will indicate all files are being backed up.) Click next after you have
confirmed all files are selected to be backed up. Then you can schedule the
back up.
Mozy is defaulted to backup files such as My Documents, Desktop and
Favorites. Program Files do not need to be backed up; you can install your
programs from your original software CDs. I've scheduled Mozy to run a
backup every evening at 11:00 PM.
