What is Design in 5? As users of Studio already know, Studio is a quick and easy way to provide a client with a visual image. We have developed special techniques to reduce even further the time it takes to create these visuals – in fact, with Studio you can illustrate a design concept right in front of a client in five minutes. Hence the name for our new design technique, which we call Design in 5.

Here's how it works. After you have spoken with the client and had a chance to look at their windows you probably have a couple of designs in mind. So why not take advantage of the investment you have made in Studio. All you need to do is be familiar with the library in Studio. You can mix and match images to create just about any design.

Below are the simple steps to Design in 5:

  1. Open an appropriate pre-designed template that we have already created (see below)

  2. Locate and drag over window image(s) close to the style and size of the client's window

  3. Locate and drag over images to create a design concept

  4. Don't take time to make the rendering to scale or add color at this time

  5. Add hardware if desired

  6. You can click Duplicate Page to create a second design option

The client will be amazed as they watch you create a design concept specifically for them. View this short video to see a demonstration of how easy it is to Design in 5.

Download Templates:

These pre-designed templates have been created for you; simply download templates from “The Lounge”, our online forum. We have created 8’, 9’ and 10’ Templates. The template sizes include the floor, wall, crown, and baseboard. If your client does not have crown simply delete! Deleting is so much quicker than adding these image details to each design. Save the templates 8', 9' & 10' Wall Templates from "The Lounge" > once the template thread opens double click on the Attached Folder > click Open > double click on the .mms template > this will open the file in Studio.

Saving Templates:

Once the template opens in Studio click File > Save As > under My Studio Designs, create a new folder > name the folder Templates > save all your template sizes under this folder. If you need a refresher course on creating new folders, read February's newsletter – Learning to Work with Computers 101 (Session One).

Customize Templates:

Add your company’s logo, address, phone number, etc. Once you have customized the templates with your company information click Save.

Using Templates:

When you are ready to begin designing, press Ctrl+O (open) > locate your saved template > double click to open the template in Studio > click File > Save As… > rename the template with your client's name > begin designing. By renaming the file, you will be able to keep the original template file and create a new file to be used for your client.
