Want to Navigate Faster When Opening or Saving Files in Windows XP?
Every time you want to save a file, a dialog box pops up asking you for the location in which you would like to save your file. For years I clicked on the down arrow in the Save in dialog box to navigate through my multiple folders. A year ago, I finally noticed the icons on the Places Bar. The Places Bar appears in several software programs i.e., all Microsoft Office programs. This bar even appears in our Minutes Matter Studio program! Below are several tips to help you navigate faster as you are opening or saving a file.

Click icons in the Places Bar to navigate faster to My Documents & your Desktop.

Click the Up One Level icon when you want to navigate back one or two folders.

When creating a new folder, click the Create New Folder icon to create a new sub-folder on the fly.

Click the View Menu icon and choose from multiple folder layouts.

When a file is not visible in a folder, click the down arrow in the Save as type dialog box and select All Files. All file types will then appear.

to Start a New Company in QuickBooks for 2005?
Many of you may be contemplating starting a new company file in QuickBooks with a start date of January 1, 2005. By the way, starting a new company file does not mean you are starting a new business, it simply means you are creating a new file for your business in QuickBooks.
One thing to keep in mind is that it will be very easy to access your previous company file in QuickBooks. Simply click File > Open Previous Company and your previous company file name will be displayed.
There are several things you need to consider if you have made the decision to start a new QuickBooks company file. The biggest tip I can give you is to clean up your existing QuickBooks file as much as possible before December 31, 2004; pay all bills including Sales Tax. This will reduce the amount of outstanding data and balances that will need to be entered into your new company. Remember, you can export your Customer List, Vendor List, Item List & many more lists from your existing company and import them into your new company. One thing QuickBooks does not allow to be exported are estimates/proposals that were created in the previous company.
